1) Use your phone
You’ve probably heard of apps like Uber, and Airbnb—all of which can make you money in your free time. However, there are countless other platforms that could help you make money or connect with new people while helping you hone your skills in school. Some of these include TaskRabbit (online/offline labor platform), Zaarly (online freelance marketplace), Textbroker (get paid for writing for various companies online), Amazon Mechanical Turk (gig economy work service), and more.
Again, if it sounds too good to be true…it probably is. But before ruling any opportunity out of hand, do some research first. Chances are there’s someone else who has already tried it, so look them up! Also, don’t forget about student discounts! They’re often available at restaurants and stores near campus. And many local businesses offer deals specifically for students. Don’t miss out!
2) Become an Amazon Associate
Many students get their start selling products online with Amazon, an affiliate marketing program. The amount of time spent on your business is totally up to you. Many people start out part-time just to test out different things, like what products sell best or what techniques convert more traffic into sales.
You can even choose specific items that you think are absolutely awesome and recommend them on your site while earning a commission off each sale. There are plenty of other sites where you can become an affiliate marketer and make money doing it—just be sure to read through our guide here first!
3) Start A Website
It’s possible to earn money from your website or have it pay for itself if you choose. Starting your own site is an excellent way to make some money working online, and potentially even launch your own business. The website can be about anything: your passions, hobbies, experiences. You don’t need extensive knowledge of coding or design either; there are plenty of great, free resources available that will help you create a decent site with very little experience or investment required.
Once it’s up, simply drive traffic to it. If you’re interested in learning more about how to start a website in 2018 and beyond, check out our beginner’s guide on How To Start A Website In 2018. 4) Become a Tutor
Tutoring is one of those freelance jobs for students that not only allows you to make money on your own schedule but can open doors for you into any number of other careers. Not only do tutors make money by helping others, but they get experience in real-world problem solving, professional communication and organizational skills, and develop confidence in their abilities.

5) Do Freelance Writing
In addition to finding an additional job, there are several other ways you can earn money from home. Many companies hire part-time customer service representatives for phone-based positions and others will pay you to complete certain tasks such as surveys, data entry or even performing customer service when necessary. You could also decide to sell your old things online like books, DVDs and CDs.
Most people don’t think of their belongings as potential extra income but since they probably don’t get much use out of them anymore it might be worth considering! Lastly, if you’re good at a hobby or activity that others would pay for, why not consider providing your services? This could range anywhere from dog walking and knitting sweaters all depending on what your talent is! There are plenty of ways to make money from home so check out our post here to find more ideas.
6) Sell on eBay
eBay is one of today’s top online auction sites. It allows you to sell items for free and helps you build your reputation with users so that they will trust you to sell their products too. If you have something like collectibles, books, or designer clothing and accessories, consider selling them on eBay instead of at flea markets or garage sales—your audience is much bigger. After selling an item on eBay, be sure it shows up quickly in search results if someone searches for that exact product; most buyers don’t want to wait weeks for an item they won.
You can do this by using keyword-rich tags in your title or including additional photos. Selling quality items that arrive quickly will help boost customer satisfaction and help ensure future sales. 7) Become An Uber Driver
If you live in a major city, there’s probably Uber available. If you want to go above and beyond and make some extra cash, fill out an application online with Uber. As soon as you’re accepted, you can start bringing people around town and turn your car into a part-time Uber taxi. It’s even possible that Uber will add your name to their directory of regular drivers, which would mean they call you when they need someone on short notice.
You’ll be paid for every trip you complete, so it’s up to you how much time or money you put into it. According to Business Insider, these types of side gigs are actually pretty decent ways to earn some extra income if you’re in a pinch. But remember: This is just supplemental income—it’s not going to pay off your student loans.
That said, if you work hard enough at it, it could eventually get you free rides forever (or at least until self-driving cars take over). Here are a few more things Uber drivers should know before signing up.

8) Other ways
Here are some more ways students can earn money: make tutoring appointments, do freelance work, tutor children in after-school programs, start an e-business, or babysit. If you’re interested in working on weekends or over summer break, here are some ideas for that too. You may also want to try starting a business using your skills. (One of my classmates started his own bicycle repair and rental shop with help from his family.)
There’s also no shame in getting an on-campus job if you need to pay for school; these gigs can help cover bills and put gas in your car so you can get back and forth between class and home. Just be sure to check with your college’s career center first to find out what jobs they have available. Also, don’t forget about selling things online!
Online selling is one of the easiest ways to make extra cash fast—and it doesn’t require a lot of startup costs either. I’ve sold everything from old textbooks to clothes I didn’t wear anymore and made a little bit of extra cash each time. And by doing so, I was able to buy new books and outfits that better suited my style without having to spend too much money.
